OnePlus has made its first official move for its new Turbo series, which is set to change the balance in the smartphone market. Li Jie Louis, the head of the company’s China operations, revealed the design and key features of the upcoming OnePlus Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V models via a Weibo post. While the shared images clarify the design details of the device, the technical specifications revealed have raised expectations, especially regarding battery life.
9,000 mAh Battery and Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 Power
The most striking detail in the official promotional images is undoubtedly the battery capacity. OnePlus has confirmed that it will use a massive 9,000 mAh battery in its new series. While it’s not yet clear whether this capacity will be in both models or just the main model, it’s certain that the phone will break records in battery life. The power unit will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor. Furthermore, the super-fast 165Hz refresh rate display technology familiar from the OnePlus 15 series will also be included in this device.
In terms of design, the Turbo 6 model bears a strong resemblance to the flagship OnePlus 15. Minor orientation changes to the triple camera setup on the back differentiate it from the main series. The Turbo 6 comes in green, black, and silver with holographic edges, while the Turbo 6V model will be available in blue, black, and silver. Another notable detail is the absence of the brand’s iconic mute button or the new Plus Key in this series.
The Turbo series is officially scheduled to be launched in the Chinese market on January 8th. However, industry sources indicate that this naming convention will be exclusive to the Chinese market. Leaks suggest that the OnePlus Turbo 6 model will be released globally, and therefore in Turkey, as the OnePlus Nord 6. This model, which is expected to intensify competition in the upper-mid segment, does not yet have a confirmed global release date.
